Weekly Export Sales for Most U.S. Crops Lower

WASHINGTON, DC – Export sales for the past week improved for corn and beef, but were lower for all other major categories. According to USDA’s Foreign Ag Service (FAS), Japan and Colombia led the buying spree for corn with an old-crop increase of 49 percent from the previous week. South Korea and Japan were the top buyers of U.S. beef in the past week as sales increased 7 percent. China did return to the checkout line as a major buyer of U.S. wheat, sorghum, soybeans, and pork, allying fears from some market participants that they were halting all purchases of the U.S. commodities in retaliation of comments from President Trump over Hong Kong. Ecuador was the top buyer of U.S. wheat; Taiwan led the buyers for cotton, and the biggest pork customer was Mexico.
