Weak Demand for Smaller Utility Tractors Pressuring Dealers
MILWAUKEE, WI – After experiencing historic tractor sales in the United States over the past few years, total ag equipment unit sales fell during November.
According to the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), the losses were capped by the small utility tractor market, which fell nearly 28 percent year-over-year.
This segment was expected to fall after seeing huge sales increases during the height of the pandemic, says Curt Blades, senior vice president of industry sectors and product leadership at AEM.
Combine sales remain positive with an 8.3 percent YOY increase, and 100-plus horsepower tractor sales increased by more than 6 percent, as both segments are the only ones in the farm equipment sales category to see year-to-date gains (15.7 percent and 13.3 percent, respectively).
