USDA Releases Newly Updated 2020 Crop Production Estimates
WASHINGTON, DC – United States upland cotton production is expected to total 16.5 million bales, down 14 percent from last year according to the latest USDA Crop Production Report released on Friday. Corn production is forecast at 14.7 billion bushels, up 8 percent from 2019. Sorghum crop production is 9 percent higher than last year at 371 million bushels. Domestic peanut production is estimated at 6.7 billion pounds, a 22 percent year over year increase. Soybean production is expected to total 4.27 billion bushels, 20 percent above last year’s estimate. Alfalfa production is expected to total 52.6 million tons, down 4 percent from last year with production of other hay is forecast at 75.1 million tons, 1 percent higher than last year.
