USDA Outlines New Interim Rules for Conservation Program
WASHINGTON, DC – USDA recently released the final rule for its Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP), making updates to the popular conservation program as directed by the 2018 Farm Bill. Based on feedback from more than 600 comments on an interim final rule that published back in November, the agency made the following changes in the interim final rule:
1.) increased payment rates for the adoption of cover crop rotations;
2.) introducing a new supplemental payment for advanced grazing management;
3.) creating a one-time payment for developing a comprehensive conservation plan; and
4.) providing specific support for organic and transitioning to organic production activities.
