USDA Awards $100 Million to Improve Market Access
(WASHINGTON, DC) USDA Secretary Sonny Perdue announced $100 million in awards to 48 organizations through the Agricultural Trade Promotion Program (ATP) to help U.S. farmers and ranchers identify and access new export markets. Last week’s announcement comes after President Trump authorized up to $16 billion in programs to support farmers affected by unjustified retaliatory tariffs and other trade disruptions. ATP is one of three programs that will assist agricultural producers while the administration works to address long-standing market access barriers. Perdue says that China and other nations haven’t played by the rules for a long time and President Trump is sending a clear message that the U.S. will no longer tolerate their practices. Since the first round of assistance in January ($200 million), U.S. exporters have had significant success in generating new sales and business.
