USDA and Secretary Perdue Announce Streamlined H-2A Website
WASHINGTON, DC – The agriculture industry has long relied on the availability of foreign ag workers to tend fields, maintain livestock operations, and harvest crops and animals. Unfortunately, the system for allowing workers to come into the United States to assist with ag labor has been strained and unworkable in the past.
Though Congress has talked about overhauling the H-2A Ag Worker Visa program, ag employers continue to wait. In the interim, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue has announced new features designed to help facilitate the employment of H-2A workers.
The primary new features online at www.Farmers.gov include a real-time dashboard that enables farmers to track the status of their eligible employer application and visa applications for temporary nonimmigrant workers; allowing farmers to track multiple applications at one time; and the ability to file all forms online.
