United States Cattle on Feed Up Slightly
(WASHINGTON, DC) USDA is reporting that there are slightly more cattle and calves on feed for the slaughter market as compared to the same time last year. On Friday, the government announced 11.7 million head on feed in February, with placements in feedlots during January totaled 1.96 million head, five percent less than the previous year. Marketings of fed cattle during January totaled 1.91 million head, a three percent year over year increase while other disappearance totaled 61,000 head during January, 12 percent below 2018.
