U.S. Pork Exports on Break-Neck Pace in 2020

DENVER, CO – Chinese demand for U.S. pork is leading to a record pace for exports, according to data released recently by USDA. In September, pork exports increased 10 percent year over year and the value of exports increased 6 percent led by a new record for Canada. The U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) is celebrating year-over-year increases as well for Japan, Vietnam, the Philippines, Taiwan, Chile, and the Caribbean. Through the first three quarters of the year, pork exports are 16 percent ahead of last year’s record pace in both volume and value and the increases were even stronger for pork muscle cuts, up 22 percent while values increased 19 percent.
