U.S. Pork Exports Continue Record Pace in 2020
DENVER, CO – U.S. pork exports posted broad-based gains in October, solidifying a record pace for 2020, according to data released by USDA and compiled by the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF). October pork exports were up 8 percent year-over-year (242,536 metric tons), with value also increasing 8 percent as well ($641.1 million). Exports to Mexico, Japan, China, Canada, and the Philippines were substantially higher than in 2019 while shipments to Central and South America were the largest since March. Through the first 10 months of the year, pork exports are 15 percent greater than last year’s record pace and the value is 16 percent greater ($6.33 billion). With Mexico as the top volume destination, October muscle cut exports posted double-digit gains (up 11 percent), with values up 10 percent ($551.8 million).
