Supply Chain, Fake Meat Top 2021 NCBA Priorities
WASHINGTON, DC – Members of the National Cattleman’s Beef Association (NCBA) have set their priorities for 2021, and it’s no surprise that strengthening the beef supply chain is near the top of the list. Working to apply the lessons learned during the pandemic to build a stronger, more resilient, and more profitable future for producers was a clear message from the nation’s largest livestock organization. Members also want to focus on ensuring that all alternative protein products, plant-based or cell-grown, are held to fair and equal standards and labeled in a manner that truly represents their ingredients. They also put forward requests to promote and expand the use of voluntary origin and value-added marketing programs that deliver value back to the producers, enhance price discovery and transparency, and improve rural infrastructure, including the expansion of rural broadband access. Due to the ongoing concerns of COVID-19, NCBA has postponed their annual Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show until August (in Nashville, TN).
