Summer Farm Shows Fall Victim to Global Pandemic
ST. CHARLES, IL – The global coronavirus pandemic has claimed more casualties, this time in the way of 65-year-old farm shows.
In what organizers are calling a difficult decision, for the first time in history, the annual Farm Progress Show and Husker Harvest Days will not be held.
Farm Progress had planned on operating both shows in the Midwest with a physical distancing requirement, along with other health and safety changes, but rapidly changing conditions related to the COVID-19 pandemic” just made the decision clear.
According to a press release on Monday, plans are being made to restart the tradition again in 2021.
The news comes on the heels of the cancellation of other major events this year including the World Pork Expo (Wisconsin), World Dairy Expo (Iowa), Farmfest (Minnesota), Dakotafest (South Dakota), and the National FFA Convention (Indianapolis).
