Rice and Pork Exports Hit Marketing Year Highs

WASHINGTON, DC – Net sales of U.S. wheat totaled over 530,000 metric tons, up 5 percent from the previous week and the Philippines was the top buyer. For corn, net sales were more than 1.22 million metric tons for 2020/2021, primarily for Japan and Mexico. Exports were tremendous (934,800 MT), primarily to China, Mexico, and Colombia. China was the only buyer and receiver of U.S. origin sorghum, purchasing over 215,000 metric tons and accepting shipment of almost 158,000 metric tons. U.S. rice sales hit a marketing-year high thanks to Mexico and Venezuela. More than 1.5 million metric tons of soybeans were purchased by the Chinese, representing the majority of the total net sales of 2.6 million metric tons. Cotton exports fell by 24 percent with Vietnam representing the top buyer. China remained the top destination of U.S. cotton fiber, accepting roughly one-third of all exports last week. Finally, China was the top buyer last week of U.S. pork, propelling total exports to a new marketing-year high.
