Report Suggests Six Million New American Jobs Coming

WASHINGTON, DC – If agriculture struggled over the past year due to the economic shutdown and the loss of employment nationwide, then one might assume that increasing employment might lead to a stronger farm economy. If that is the case, then a new report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics holds promise for the next ten years. According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, the U.S. economy is projected to grow by .4 percent or an additional 6 million jobs by 2029. The rate of growth is slower than the rate observed over the past decade at the economy expanded following the Great Recession. More than three million new jobs are expected to be added to the healthcare sector. Growth will also occur in professional, scientific, and technical services; accommodation, and food services while the biggest declines will be in manufacturing, retail trade, and wholesale trade.
