Plant-based, Meat-substitute Producer Aiming at Animal Agriculture Extinction
REDWOOD CITY, CA – Whether the announcement by Impossible Foods represents demand growth or a lack thereof, the company making plant-based meat substitutes is dropping prices.
Last Wednesday, Impossible Foods rolled out a 15 percent price reduction to foodservice distributors, their second price-reduction in the past 12 months.
The company, which unapologetically is aiming to end the use of animal agriculture, explains their role in solving the environmental crisis and make the food system sustainable involves lowering prices and “ultimately undercut(ing) those of animal-derived foods”.
“Our stated goal since Impossible Foods’ founding has always been to drive down prices through economies of scale, reach price parity, and then undercut the price of conventional ground beef from cows,” said Impossible Foods CEO and Founder Dr. Patrick O. Brown.
