Negotiators Pushing the Throttle for New Trade Agreement

WASHINGTON, DC – It appears as though negotiators from the United States and United Kingdom (UK) are stepping on the accelerator towards a new trade agreement. Politico is reporting that a top official from the UK spoke recently about the need for the allies to approve a deal soon, preferably before the November U.S. elections. The talks are a product of Britain’s exit from the European Union, also referred to as BREXIT, and began last month. Agriculture on both sides of the Atlantic appears to be near the top of the list for reaching a successful conclusion. U.S. farmers are eager to open the UK up to more American beef, through a scientific relaxation in standards for hormones. Negotiations are expected to begin again in the next few days via video teleconference.
