Most Farmers Passing on Virtual Farm Show Opportunities
WEST LAFAYETTE, IN – With so many events choosing to go virtual rather than in person, respondents of the recent Purdue University/CME Group Ag Economy Barometer were asked whether they have attended an online program and, if so, what aspects they liked and disliked. Less than 25 percent of the 400 farmers and ranchers who participated in the monthly survey have attended an online educational program or field day this year. Though some said they liked the flexibility of viewing the programs and choosing topics of interest, the majority cited a lack of interaction with other attendees (40 percent), poor broadband connection (18 percent), and difficulty in asking questions (17 percent) as top reasons for dissatisfaction with these programs.
