Marketing Year High Established for U.S. Corn Exports
WASHINGTON, DC – Weekly exports soared for wheat, cotton, and corn, with the latter hitting a new marketing year high. Corn exports for last week topped 1.4 million metric tons with Mexico, Columbia, and Japan representing the primary destinations. Cotton exports increased 46 percent week over week as Vietnam, China and Turkey took delivery of the majority of the U.S. shipments. Wheat exports climbed 30 percent on major purchases from the Philippines, Italy, and Vietnam. Despite reductions for sorghum, China still remains on a major spending spree for the U.S. grain and appears to be benefiting from the Phase One trade deal with the United States. Soybean exports declined but China took delivery of about half of the weeks’ shipments. Both beef and pork, coming off record exports in the first quarter struggled at the end of April through the majority all flowed into countries with trade pacts with the United States.
