Livestock Haulers Score Big Victory in Infrastructure Bill
WASHINGTON, DC – Livestock haulers scored a victory on Friday when the House passed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. The legislation makes a historic investment to rebuild America’s roads, bridges, and rails, ensure every American has access to high-speed internet, and strengthen supply chains by making long-overdue improvements for the nation’s ports, airports, rail, and roads.
The victory specifically for the livestock industry includes some of Senator Deb Fischer’s (R-NE) HAULS Act to be included within the bipartisan infrastructure framework.
Now those who haul livestock will be granted a 150 air-miles radius from the origin AND destination of their trip, effectively allowing drivers to travel an additional 300 miles while exempt from the restrictive Hours-of-Service (HoS) regulations.
