How Much Does a Farmer Make? Salad Items
WASHINGTON, DC – How much does the farmer make? According to the National Farmers Union (NFU), the share a farmer makes on a $2.99 pound of lettuce is just 21¢ – or 7 percent. It’s quite a bit less than the 47¢ a farmer makes on a $2.99 pound of tomatoes (15.7 percent), or the $2.10 they make on five pounds of carrots that cost you $3.99 (52.6 percent share).
