House and Senate Ag Committees’ Schedule Hearings Thursday
WASHINGTON, DC – The two committees with jurisdiction over agriculture in Congress will both hold hearings on Thursday of this week. For the House Agriculture Committee, this represents their second hearing and first on the issue of Food Insecurity. Their first hearing last month was on the topic of Climate Change. That will be the same topic addressed by the Senate Agriculture Committee, as Congress begins the process of determining what role agriculture plays in any Climate Change legislation to be debated by the 117th Congress. The Administration and Democratic majority in Congress have elevated Climate Change to a priority issue and on his first day in office, President Biden rejoined the Paris Climate accord and is pushing a plan calling for carbon-free electricity by 2035 with net-zero emissions by 2050.
