House Ag Committee Sets Hearing, Names Subcommittee Leadership
WASHINGTON, DC – The House Agriculture Committee will hold their first hearing of the 117th Congress to consider a proposal to satisfy the Committee’s reconciliation instructions dealing with the budget. The hearing will begin at 1:00 pm (CST) in a virtual format and will provide the first opportunity to see the leadership of new House Agriculture Committee Chairman David Scott (GA-13) and Ranking Member G.T. Thompson (PA-15).
The leaders have also announced their subcommittee leadership as well. Rep. Cheri Bustos (IL-17) will Chair the Subcommittee on General Farm Commodities and Risk Management and Rep. Austin Scott (GA-08) will serve as Ranking Member.
Rep. Antonio Delgado (NY-19) will Chair the Subcommittee on Commodity Exchanges, Energy, and Credit and Rep. Michelle Fischbach (MN-07) will serve as Ranking Member.
Rep. Abigail Spanberger (VA-07) will Chair the Subcommittee on Conservation and Forestry and Rep. Doug LaMalfa (CA-01) will serve as Ranking Member.
Rep. Jahana Hayes (CT-05) will Chair the Subcommittee on Nutrition, Oversight, and Department Operations, and Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02) will serve as Ranking Member.
Del. Stacey Plaskett (USVI) will Chair the Subcommittee on Biotechnology, Horticulture, and Research and Rep. Dr. Jim Baird (IN-04) will serve as Ranking Member.
Finally, Rep. Jim Costa (CA-16) will Chair the Subcommittee on Livestock and Foreign Agriculture and Rep. Dusty Johnson (SD-AL) will serve as Ranking Member for the 117th Congress.
