Good Week for Exports Sales Reported by USDA

WASHINGTON, DC – USDA released their latest Weekly Export Sales Report on Friday, a day later than normal due to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday on Monday.

Wheat sales exceeded 329 thousand metric tons, an increase of 49 percent from the previous week. Major buyers were Indonesia, Japan, and China. Exports were down 26 percent from the previous week primarily to Indonesia, Mexico, and Japan.

Net corn sales hit 1,4 million metric tons, unchanged from the previous week, but up 51 percent from the prior 4-week average. Mexico, Japan, and Colombia were the top three buyers. Exports of 887 thousand metric tons were down 39 percent from last week primarily to Mexico, Colombia, and Japan.

Sorghum sales were up 54 percent from the previous week (293,500 MT) primarily for China. Exports of 220 thousand metric tons were 95 percent from the prior 4-week average to China and South Korea.

Sales of soybeans eclipsed 1.8 million metric tons with well more than 60 percent purchased by China. The Netherlands and Mexico were also major buyers during the week. Exports were up 17 percent from the previous week (2,379,100 MT) to China, Pakistan, and the Netherlands.

Old crop cotton sales fell 10 percent from the previous week (292,400 RB) primarily to Vietnam, Pakistan, and Turkey. Exports of 8,400 running bales were down 19 percent from last week primarily to India, Bangladesh, and Honduras.

Beef sales of 24,500 metric tons went to Japan, China, and South Korea while exports were headed to Japan, South Korea and Mexico.

Net pork sales of 45,200 metric tons were registered Mexico, China, and Canada while exports shipped to Mexico, China, and Japan.
