Former EPA Employee Becomes 16th Administrator of Agency

WASHINGTON, DC – Agriculture groups are congratulating Michael Regan who was confirmed on Wednesday as the next Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Though he’s the newest leader of the EPA, replacing Andrew Wheeler, he’s not new to the agency. Regan began his career as an environmental regulator in 1998 at the EPA, then joined the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) ten years later, serving as the associate vice president for clean energy and a Southeast regional director. After 8 years of non-governmental organization (NGO) work, Regan became secretary of North Carolina’s Department of Environmental Quality and was sworn in on Thursday morning as the EPA’s 16th Administrator.
