Farm Tractor Sales Strong While Combine Sales Stumble
MILWAUKEE, WI – New farm tractor unit sales continue double-digit growth rate in the United States, and inventories continue to fall after a strong month in April.
According to the latest data from the Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM), total farm tractor sales increased almost 23 percent in April compared to 2020.
U.S. tractor sales grew across every segment, but the biggest gains were from the large 100+ horsepower segment, increasing more than 29 percent.
The midsize class of tractors (40-100hp) was up 29 percent, and the small class of utility tractors (under 40 hp), experienced gains of almost 21 percent.
Four-wheel-drive units saw sales increase by 15 percent as well, a 12 percent year-to-date increase over the same time period in 2020.
Finally, combine sales fell 3 percent, year over year, during April.
