Ethanol Exports Dip While Imports from Brazil Soar

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. ethanol exports in September fell to 75.8 million gallons, equal to a 6 percent drop from the previous month according to the latest data released by the Renewable Fuels Association (RFA).

Exports have been reduced primarily to just two countries, Canada and South Korea. For the sixth consecutive month, Canada remains the top destination for U.S. ethanol exports, and actually experienced a 7 percent increase over August and the 36.2 million gallons is the largest cross-border transfer in more than three years.

South Korean exports also hit a five-month high, though smaller amounts shipped to Mexico, Peru, and the United Kingdom (UK).

Brazil, China and India were once again absent from the market.

Imports, however, hit their largest volume for any month this year as almost 13 million gallons of undenatured ethanol arrived from Brazil.
