EPA Issues Proposed Rules Increasing E15 Availability Nationwide
WASHINGTON, DC – The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) produced a few final rules aimed at increasing the availability of E15 ethanol nationwide. Earlier in the month, EPA proposed changes to fuel dispenser labeling requirements. E15 is a gasoline-ethanol blend that contains up to 15 percent ethanol and is currently available at over 1,800 retail stations. EPA is now proposing to modify underground storage tank regulations to accommodate the safe storage of E15 and higher gasoline-ethanol blends at retail stations’ existing tank systems. The outgoing Administrator Andrew Wheeler signed the notice on Tuesday. EPA will accept comments on the proposed rulemaking for 90 days.
