Corn and Cotton Exports Hit Marketing Year Highs
WASHINGTON, DC – The Foreign Agriculture Service (FAS) has released their latest Weekly Export Sales report for the week ending February 4, 2021. Wheat sales of 591,000 metric tons were down 8 percent from the previous week on increases for Mexico, the Philippines, and Taiwan. Exports were down 12 percent from the previous week (438,900 MT) on deliveries to the same three countries. Net new corn sales fell 81 percent from the previous week (1,448,600 MT) as Japan, Mexico, and Egypt led the way. Exports, on the other hand, claimed a new marketing-year high (1,565,700 MT) on deliveries to China, Japan, and Mexico. Sorghum sales increased 73 percent (110,000 MT) and exports dipped 82 percent (54,900 MT) from the previous week, all to China. Sales of soybeans slipped 2 percent from the previous week (804,700 MT) primarily for China, the Netherlands, and Mexico. At the same time exports climbed 13 percent from the previous week (2,213,900 MT) destined again for the same three nations. Cotton sales of 275,400 running bales fell 4 percent from the previous week on purchases from China, Turkey, and Vietnam. At the same time, exports reached a marketing-year high on a 36 percent week over week increase (433,600 RB) primarily to China, Mexico, and Vietnam. Beef sales (17,500 MT) were reported for Japan, South Korea, and Mexico while exports were primarily to South Korea, Japan, and China. Pork sales (36,900 MT) were reported for China, South Korea, and Mexico. Exports (37,800 MT) were primarily to China, Mexico, and Japan.
