Corn and Cotton Exports Hit Marketing Year Highs

WASHINGTON, DC – Last week, U.S. exports for corn and cotton hit marketing-year highs while exports of soybeans hit a marketing-year low. According to USDA’s Foreign Ag Service, Japan, Mexico, and South Korea imported the majority of the nearly 1.3 million metric tons of corn for the week ending April 2nd. The primary destinations for the nearly 487,000 bales of cotton were Vietnam, Turkey, and Pakistan. For soybeans, however, U.S. sellers were only able to move 362,000 metric tons in the previous week. Wheat exports were up 39 percent, week-over-week, and beef exports increased by 4 percent. Japan was a top-three destination for every major exported commodity last week, with the exception of cotton. China, on the other hand, was a major buyer in cotton and pork.
