China Remains Top Buyer for Many U.S. Commodities
WASHINGTON, DC – USDA’s Foreign Ag Service released their latest Weekly Export Sales Report based on reports from exporters for the period January 22-28, 2021.
Net wheat sales last week were up 69 percent from the previous week on purchases from China, Nigeria, and Mexico. Exports though were down 2 percent from the previous week, primarily to Nigeria, South Korea, and Mexico.
Corn sales reached a marketing-year high (7,436,500 MT) on huge purchases from China (5,860,400 MT). Exports, however, fell 30 percent from the previous week on lighter shipments to Japan, China, and Mexico. Exports to China were up noticeably from the previous week.
Soybean sales increased 77 percent from the previous week on large purchases again from China. Exports slipped 11 percent from the previous week on bulk shipments to China, the Netherlands, and Mexico.
Net sales of cotton were down 11 percent from the previous week, primarily for China, Turkey, and Pakistan. Exports continued their strong pace, climbing 16 percent from the previous week as China, Vietnam, and Pakistan claimed the top three spots.
Beef sales were primarily for South Korea, Japan, and China while pork sales were logged for China, Mexico, and Japan.
