China Buying U.S. Sorghum Again, First-time This Year

(WASHINGTON, DC) China made its first significant purchase of U.S. sorghum since last February (2018) when the country self-initiated anti-dumping and countervailing duties against the commodity. Though the duties were only in place for a few months, sorghum was hit by a 25 percent tariff on U.S. commodities in June of last year. According to USDA, China purchased 2.6 million bushels for the week of February 28th. Spain also purchased 2.2 million bushels of U.S. sorghum during the week and comes at a time when leaders of both countries continue to push for an end to the ongoing trade dispute.
