U.S. import prices rose 3 percent in February from the same time last year, the largest 12-month advance since October 2018.
According to the U.S.-Japan Trade Agreement, Japan has raised tariffs on U.S. beef imports to 38.5 percent for 30 days.
Cattle and calves on feed for the slaughter market in the United States for feedlots with a capacity of 1,000 or more head totaled 12.0 million head on March 1.
