Agricultural Exports Responsible for $300 Billion to Economy
KANSAS CITY, MO – How important are exports for U.S. agriculture? According to the Economic Research Service (ERS), ag exports add $302 billion in economic output every year.
Specifically, ag exports generate $142 billion in revenue while there’s another $160 billion in other industries tied back to the exports.
So on average, in 2019, every dollar of U.S. ag product that was exported generated an additional $1.13 of domestic economic activity.
If the U.S. didn’t have reliable export partners, it would lead to around $31 billion less to farmers, ranchers, and others in agriculture.
