Mask Announcement Comes Ahead of Summer Ag Conventions
WASHINGTON, DC – On Thursday, the Centers for Disease and Control (CDC) announced updated guidance regarding COVID-19 and the reopening of America.
For those who are fully vaccinated, the CDC says it is safe to resume activities that were a part of normal life before the pandemic. This includes dropping the requirement to wear a mask – indoors or outdoors -and eliminating the need to socially distance except where required by federal, state, or local laws, rules and regulations.
Based upon research, the CDC announced the changes based upon the fact that COVID-19 vaccines are effective at preventing COVID-19 disease, especially severe illness and death, and the vaccines reduce the risk of people spreading the virus.
Despite the announcement and new guidance from the CDC, masks are still required at this time in all Federal Buildings – as outlined in an Executive Order signed by President Biden earlier this year – and in all airports and on all commercial flights in and out of the United States.
For agriculture, the news comes before a few large events scheduled for this summer including the annual Cattle Industry Convention and NCBA Trade Show in Nashville (August 10-12).
