Agriculture Experiences Best Export Sales Year Since 2014
WASHINGTON, DC – According to a recent report from USDA, agriculture trade through exports has increased 6.6 percent over the past year – reaching their highest levels since 2014.
The top five customers of U.S. commodities include China, Canada, Mexico, Japan, and South Korea, all experiencing growth over 2019 except for Mexico and Japan. Actually, export sales to China increased year over year by more than 90 percent to their highest level ever, in part due to the signing of a Phase One Trade agreement one year ago.
Trade with Brazil and Egypt experienced growth rates between 24 and 27 percent, while double-digit losses were found in trade with Hong Kong (-32 percent), the United Kingdom (-22 percent), India (-10 percent), Spain (-22 percent), United Arab Emirates (- 22 percent) and Peru (-11 percent).
