Senate Agriculture Committee Considering Growing Climate Solutions Act
WASHINGTON, DC – As the headlines have been focused on the coronavirus pandemic for the past four months, one topic has moved to the backburner: the climate. For the past ten years though, agriculture has been working on the sidelines on how farmers and ranchers might be able to benefit financially from their work as the original conservationists. Next week, the Senate Agriculture Committee will hold a legislative hearing on The Growing Climate Solutions Act of 2020 (S.3894). Testifying on behalf of agriculture will be Brent Bible, an Indiana corn and soybean producer; Zippy Duvall, President of the American Farm Bureau Federation; Rob Larew, President of the National Farmers Union; and Jason Weller, former CHief of the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and currently with Land O’Lakes. The hearing will begin at 9:00 am on Wednesday from the Dirksen Senate Office Building. In addition, the Committee will hold a business meeting to consider the U.S. Grain Standards Reauthorization Act of 2020.
