U.S. Notches New “Organic” Trade Deal with Taiwan
WASHINGTON, DC – With all the talk about trade with China and the benefits to agriculture, one might miss a new arrangement set to benefit organic producers. Just last week, USDA announced a new arrangement with Taiwan that streamlines organic trade and allows products certified as organic in either country, to be sold in either marketplace. Taiwan is estimated to be the fifth largest organic export market for U.S. producers. The United States currently maintains organic equivalence arrangements with Canada, the European Union, Japan, Korea, and Switzerland.
