Big Week for Wheat, Sorghum, and Soybean Exports

WASHINGTON, DC – It was another big week for U.S. wheat, sorghum, and soybean exports according to USDA’s latest Weekly Export Sales Report. Wheat exports hit a marketing-year high last week (720,900 MT), up 90 percent from the previous week with the majority heading to the Philippines, Mexico, and Nigeria. Sorghum exports of 147,000 MT were up nearly 17-hundred percent from the previous week as China continues to refill their supply following a two-year trade war (135,800 MT). Soybean exports were 45 percent higher (525,000 MT) as China returns to the market along with top buyers Egypt and Mexico. On the other hand, it was a tough week for U.S. cotton exports as they fell 36 percent from last week (312,000 RB) with Vietnam, China, and Bangladesh the top three destinations. Corn exports were down 5 percent from the previous week (1,222,100 MT) and primary destinations were Mexico, Japan, and South Korea. Beef exports were down 6 percent from the previous week (16,700 MT) with primary destinations including Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan. Finally, pork exports slipped 4 percent from the previous week (36,600 MT) as China, Mexico, and Japan remain the top customers.
