Trump Touts Trade During Third Trip to AFBF
AUSTIN, TX – For the third consecutive year, President Trump spoke to farmers and ranchers at the American Farm Bureau Federation’s (AFBF) Annual Convention Sunday. There was a dark cloud hanging over the event as attendees mourned the loss of Bonnie Duvall, wife of AFBF President Zippy Duvall, who passed away on Saturday. South Dakota native and AFBF Vice President Scott VanderWal stepped up to lead the organization into their 101st year. Trump told the crowd that the future is looking much brighter for agriculture now that the U.S. has a phase one agreement with China and the pending implementation of the USMCA trade agreement. Trump touted trade victories around the world, including expanded access to the Japanese market, the opportunity to sell more beef to the European Union, and smaller deals with South Korea, Vietnam, Ecuador, Guatemala, and Brazil. The President, speaking for the third consecutive year to the group, congratulated the country on becoming energy-independent. As for immigration, Trump spoke about the construction of the border wall with Mexico and said it’s having a big impact already. “We want them to come into our country, by the way, we want them to come in legally and we want them to help the farmer.”
