India Disappears from U.S. Ethanol July Exports Radar
(ELLISVILLE, MO) Domestic ethanol exports decreased six percent in July to 120.1 million gallons according to data issued by the Energy Information Administration (EIA). Sales were mixed with exports pressing higher among most larger markets, although shipments to Brazil pared back by 44 percent. Canada was the top destination for U.S. ethanol for the third consecutive month. Shipments increased 18 percent to a 12-month high (34.8 million gallons). Exports to Brazil slipped to 15.8 million gallons as the country’s sugarcane harvest accelerated. Oman nearly doubled its purchases in July at 12.4 million gallons and the Netherlands re-entered the market to buy 11.4 million gallons. Notably, India essentially withdrew from the U.S. market for the first time in three years after taking almost 22 million gallons in June. Total year-to-date exports of U.S. ethanol stand just a tick above 880 million gallons, implying an annualized export volume of 1.51 billion gallons. If realized, this would be the second-largest volume on record.
