Allendale Survey Pegs Smaller Corn and Soybean Crops

(CHICAGO, IL) As concerns grow regarding the size of the corn and soybean crop in the United States, Allendale is predicting lower yields for both and as a result, lower final production numbers for the year. The agricultural commodity brokerage and analysis firm suggest a projected US corn crop of 13.755 billion bushels and a soybean crop of 3.499 billion bushels. The 30th annual Nationwide Producer Yield Survey was conducted from August 19th through the 30th and the estimates were based on producer calculated yields in 29 states. Survey results come from 86 percent of the corn production and 83 percent of soybean production domestically. For this survey, the smaller states were assumed using USDA’s August 12th estimates, as were harvested acres and no adjustments were made regarding maturity concerns.
