U.S. Ethanol Exports Experience Second Significant Monthly Decline
(WASHINGTON, DC) Ethanol exports reached almost 114 million gallons in February, an 11 percent decline from January. However, global sales remain healthy as average exports over the past four months are up 25 percent year over year. According to U.S. government data, Brazil was the top trading partner for the third consecutive month, purchasing nearly one-third of all ethanol shipments. Exports to Canada however, declined by 15 percent and are down 40 percent over the past two months. India also pared its imports to 15 million gallons, a 25 percent reduction. These three markets accounted for two-thirds of all shipments in February. In addition, the U.S. did not import any ethanol for the second straight month.
