Sources Say Chinese Trade Dispute Resolution Very Near

(WASHINGTON, DC) An end to the China-U.S. trade dispute may be close at hand. On Monday, White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett told reporters that a deal to end the standoff could be coming soon. His words come on the heels of a tweet from President Trump on Sunday saying he had asked China to remove all tariffs on U.S. ag goods immediately as a gesture of goodwill in response to his postponement of additional tariffs on Chinese goods – that was to go into effect over the weekend. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that a summit between Trump and Chinese President Xi could come later this month. At least one source within the U.S. agriculture industry attended Commodity Classic last week in Orlando said he is almost 100% sure the deal is done and the “trade-gates” will reopen soon. Bob Maurer with Manduca Trading in Chicago notes the markets are cautious, but the news over the weekend can’t hurt the trade and the devil will be in the details.
