Secretary Perdue Appoints Lohr Chief of NRCS

(WASHINGTON, DC) Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Sonny Perdue has appointed Matthew Lohr to serve as Chief of the department’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). In this role, he will serve producers and landowners in their efforts to conserve, maintain and improve natural resources and the environment through a network of over 3,000 offices in communities nationwide. Lohr was raised on a farm in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley and as a fifth-generation farmer. He will take over for Leonard Jordan, who has been serving as the acting chief of NRCS since 2017.
